Vision and Values

We believe that the best place for a child is with his family, either immediate or extended. For this reason we do all we can to support families to stay together, and to enable parents to care for and look after their children.
Turning Point don't believe in removing a parent or carer's responsibilities towards their child, and providing all the solutions. Instead, we work alongside parents to enable them to support their children. The intention is that each family values the help we provide, rather than taking it for granted, and expecting more.

Why do we do this? As Christians, we believe we have a responsibility to demonstrate God's love to all, including those often overlooked by society - the poor. Throughout the Bible there are many passages that lead us to this understanding, for example:

"He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow" Deuteronomy 10:18

"Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hands of the wicked." Psalm 82:3-4

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in. I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you cam to visit me." Matthew 25:35-36

"If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and in truth."
1 John 3:17-18
